Building Innovation-driven Healthcare System in Urban India

With an estimated 40 percent of the population likely to start living in urban areas of the country by 2030, being ready for it is vital. Be it infrastructural requirements or building an innovation-driven facilitative system, the needs are likely to be much comprehensive in scale in various dimensions. In such a scenario, there is a strong need to discuss, deliberate and collectively plan the roadmap which has better and flexible solutions.

The roadmap should be able to address concerns emanating from various sections of society while having an answer to delivering an accessible, affordable and quality healthcare ecosystem. Also, such a healthcare delivery system turns vital due to an unprecedented rise in non-communicable diseases (diabetes, coronary heart diseases and cancer) because of a range of factors lifestyle related factors that already exist in urban India. In addition, the threat of communicable disease like tuberculosis, dengue and malaria is also a major roadblock in the sustainable development of a city. Considering such concerns and needs in mind, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) along with Elets Technomedia is all set to host Urban Healthcare Summit on 27 February, 2019 in Mumbai.
